Mixed Blessings

I was really excited when I ordered my new computer, and had planned carefully to have it arrive while my son was home so he could help me in the teething stages - yes, I knew that it would be a bit of a challenge for me. I love technology and the way it connects me to a whole unimagined world...but I do find that the maze of computer speak just baffles me!
So all was well initially - Dell and me were making friends nicely and playing well. Then she refused to read my camera driver...for no reason, she just dug her toes in and said she couldn't see it, even though it was plugged into her side with the appropriate umbilicus. And I got cross.
I imported all kinds of special software to try to please her but she still stayed blindfolded to Canon, who is the nicest little camera you could find. And she's not that old, really...
So eventually, with my dear son's help, I purchased a mediator - a card reader who will take Canon's card and deliver it to Dell. What a long and frustrating story this has been.
So now all I have to do is get Blogger to behave - does anyone know of a mediator that will work with him? Blogger MUST be male, surely? He is just so inflexible...

I have never heard of a mediator in this sense. Glad some of your struggles have been solved though. I dread ever having to get a new computer but they all wear out eventually.

ps like your gratitudes sidebar. I can just taste that tomato and feel the sea breeze.

Lesley, you make me laugh so hard with this one. I know how irritating that can be and believe it or not I had to do this very thing with an old Dell and and old camera! We just want these tools to do their thing and leave us to the work we have and want to do! Thankfully, your brilliant son came to your rescue, and you have this one figured out. It is fun, though, to set up a fresh, new device sometimes.

As for Blogger...well, I changed my blog format a while back and an happy with it. There are parts of Blogger I miss, however. I suppose there are always positive and negative with these things, but don't you wish they would all cooperate so everything went smoothly and we had the best bits of everything? Mmmm, of course, now that I wrote that I realize "best bits" means different things to each of us!

Oh, like Suki, I love your "Gratitudes" section on your side bar, as well as the "Reading" one!

On a personal note, I am still trying to get stuck in here, but it seems to be taking a long time at the moment.

Hi Suki - I was just venting about the frustrations of setting up a new computer - but I still love the new technology. It is just so much faster and neater than the old one!
Thanks for letting me use yours (and Willow's) sidebar idea - I just want Blogger to let me make it neat and put it in the place where I want it...

Hi Kim,
I guess if we opt for free software we get what we pay for! It just frustrates me when it says it will do something then doesn't even look like working!
It's lovely to see you back.
