Counting Sheep

I've been having lots of fun making these little sheep. They began as a project for the Beads of Courage Programme, but have since become something that other people are interested in and I really enjoy giving each one an individual personality.

I was asked a few weeks ago to work on a flat floral bead, which has teased my imagination a little. I've inserted man made "diamonds" into some of these beads - something I hadn't done for ages, but I think that this style rather suits the twinkle.

I've also been making loads of tomato relish, trying to use up some of the beautiful heritage tomatoes that the Toy Boy has growing in the garden. This is a tried and true family favourite here, something I do every year. I just love preserving food for the long cold winter months - I feel like sich a Domestic Goddess!

The sheep are so cute and I think the flat florals look brilliant.

Lesley, you are a goddess of glass and home (I am sure goddess in other ways, too)! I love these beads a lot and can see why you chose to place the "diamonds" into the floral ones as they appear even more dew kissed! The sheep are amazing and I am sure it is fun to make them all special to themselves. I bet it is also fun picking them out. You are one amazing artist!

I have been concerned about your family and your country people this morning with the news of the earthquake! I am sending so much positive energy for you all to be well.

My daughter was just accepted into the Beads of Courage for Serious Illness program last week. I think your sheep are great, and love that you contribute! She was given a stuffed lamb with one of her procedures this spring, and she's been inseparable from it since, and they make me think of it. She's 4 years old now, but since she's not a cancer patient this program wasn't an option for her until now. She has Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency and was just found to have an underlying Mitochondrial Disorder as well, which made things really confusing! I'm glad this program is available, and I have no doubt it will mean a lot to her.
